Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine in which need needles are used to stimulate and release Qi to promote healing and prevent illness
Acupressure is an alternative healing treatment similar in principle to acupuncture, in that it focuses on the manipulation of acupoints along meridians to release the flow of Qi (pronounced chee)
Auricular acupuncture is the stimulation of acupuncture points on the external ear surface for the diagnosis and treatment of health conditions in other areas of the body
Gua sha is a natural, alternative therapy that involves scraping your skin with a massage tool to improve your circulation. This ancient Chinese healing technique may offer a unique approach to better health, addressing issues like chronic pain
Cupping creates a vacuum seal over an acupoint where resulting pressure encourages the flow of Qi and blood in the area beneath the cupping, and the local stagnation begins to clear
Patients without health insurance or whose insurance plan does not cover acupuncture can pay out of pocket for services. The fee is determined based on the average charge of acupuncture clinics in Maryland. We accept cash, check or major credit cards. Payment is due at the time of service. Call our office in order to determine your cost.
– Initial Appointment
The appointment generally lasts up to 90 minutes. This is a detailed intake, evaluation and acupuncture treatment.
– Follow-up Treatment
Please reserve an hour for this visit, though it may not require the full time. This is a treatment with a brief review and a regular acupuncture session
Note: Acupuncture is often an eligible expense under flexible spending (FSA) and health care spending (HSA) accounts. A coded receipt will be provided to you if you plan to seek reimbursement through FSA or HSA. Likewise, if you itemize medical bills for tax purposes, a coded receipt will be provided for this purpose.
In-network:We are the In-network providers for the insurance of Aetna and Cigna. We are trying to be the in-network provider with other several major insurance carriers in Maryland and will submit claims on your behalf. You may have a co-pay or co-insurance due at time of service. We will verify your insurance benefits prior to treatment if you provide the necessary information when you book the New Patient appointment.
Please note we do our best to obtain the most accurate and up to date information. The information we receive is never a guarantee of payment for acupuncture however. But it typically works out just fine. If you wish to double check your benefits or are checking your insurance benefits on your own, please get the representative’s name and reference number for the call (we do the same). That gives us a starting point to inquire with the insurance company if there are any issues with an insurance claim.
Out-of-network: Currently, Jun Wang Acupuncture is qualified to provide acupuncture treatment as out-of-network provider. If you have a policy with another insurance provider, we can contact them to inquire about your out-of-network benefits prior to treatment if you provide the necessary information when you book the New Patient appointment.
Nutrition is important, training is important – but so are rest and recovery, massages, acupuncture. Your body is your temple, and you’ve got to take care of it
“The care I received at Community Acupuncture Project for lower back pain significantly improved my mobility and greatly reduced the pain level. I was very reluctant to try acupuncture for this issue after years of chiropractic and medical treatment for my lower back did not work. After the first week, I started having pain free days. I am now a true believer in acupuncture for pain management!”
